Ticketmaster – The Angel, London

When US-based online ticket retailer Ticketmaster launched their new overseas head office in London, they wanted the interior design to reflect their history as a ticket retailer. This was achieved by incorporating industrial elements – such as metals, copper piping and stone – to create a look similar to that of traditional ticket venues. 

There are several workspaces, meeting rooms and breakout spaces to keep employees comfortable and focused, and support the many different ways teams work.

But this office is far from all work and no play – there is a metal tube slide connecting the working area to the ‘relax’ room in the building’s basement, where staff can catch up at the bar, get competitive at the pinball machines or play their favourite tune on the jukebox.

Itison – Glasgow

Daily deals and events site, Itison, is situated at the Grade A listed Cochrane House in Merchant City, Glasgow. Here, there are workspaces dedicated to brainstorming and collaborative working – this includes a striking pink glass cube and a fully soundproofed boardroom. When it comes to office design, acoustic panelling has been fitted to minimise noise and feature lighting can be controlled by staff via smartphones so they can create the right mood or ambience.

This office also features all-important finishing touches to engage staff, including:

• A tall oak tree adorned with fairy lights that flash when a new member joins the company
• A giant dome ceiling that changes colour depending on the day’s performance
• A yoga studio and reading room where staff can relax and recharge

BBC North Media City – Salford Manchester

This workspace is the epitome of modern office design. It places an emphasis on agile working so it can support the different tasks and activities carried out by staff – from editing and broadcasting content to team meetings and conference calls.

All floor space of the office is utilised, with the addition of eye-catching spherical meeting pods in areas too narrow for desks or rooms to limit wasted space. The unique design of these pods engages staff and provides an inspiring place for them to focus on work or collaborate with colleagues.

Splunk – Paddington, London

Despite being a US startup business, Splunk’s UK office is full to the brim with British culture. The space evokes an atmosphere of an underground converted warehouse, with Banksy-inspired graffiti, railway arches and even a repurposed original Pullman train carriage that now features as a soundproofed meeting room. In-keeping with the British theme, there are also TARDIS-style rooms for client meetings and red telephone boxes for private calls.

This office is not all style, no substance. The open plan office space and workstation areas have dedicated meeting pods that minimise sound and provide some privacy.
